Physical Modeling and Analysis of the Effect of Wind Flow Around a Freestanding Metal Chimney-Type Cooling Tower
Abstract: The article presents an analysis of similarity criteria for physical modeling of wind flow around a free-standing metal chimney-type cooling tower of hyperbolic shape. Various methods of studying the influence of wind flow on the exhaust tower of a metal cooling tower are presented, such as strain-gauge weight studies, the method of model drainage, methods of visualization of wind flow velosimetry or shadow method, the method of silkworms. The results were obtained for each of the listed research methods. An in-depth analysis of the research results was carried out, an explanation was given on the application of each of the methods, and a comparison of the methods was performed. This work was carried out in order to find the actual plots of wind impact on a hyperbolic tower frame-sheathing metal cooling tower during operation to identify the most unfavorable calculated situations of wind impact.
Keywords: metal chimney_type cooling tower, hyperbolic shape, strain gauge scales, local coefficient, velocimetry, shadow method.
