Abstract: The article presents a study of temperature fields that arise during the operation of a pyramid-shaped metal cooling tower in winter. Control measurements of temperature fields were carried out using a thermal imager, thermograms of the distribution of temperature fields both along the height and along the circumference of the exhaust tower, occurring under various weather conditions, were determined. The temperature of the cooling tower basin and the air temperature at the neck of the metal cooling tower were also measured. An analysis of the obtained results of a field study of temperature fields under various weather conditions was carried out. This work was carried out with the aim of determining actual temperature fields for subsequent verification of experimental data obtained in laboratory conditions using the thermographic research method by recreating technological and weather operating conditions on a specially designed stand that evaluates the quantitative indicator of technological ice and its distribution over the surface of the exhaust tower.
