On the Issue of Designing of Metal Columns Bases with a Milled end Face

Annotation: The issue of designing and, in particular, calculating the thickness of the base plate in the metal columns bases with a milled end face for non-check mounting is considered in the article. The main historical stages of the development of the bases of columns with a milled end are briefly highlighted, the factors that influenced the containment of their development are indicated. An example of the first known use of columns with a milled end face in history is given in the article. The analysis of literary sources, including normative ones, was carried out in order to study the existing calculation methods, their development, identify their shortcomings and formulate the main research problem. The current method of calculating the thickness of the base plate in column bases with a milled end is shown. Based on the performed research, conclusions and recommendations are given.
